Günter Schilder receives the prestigious knighthood of the Order of the Dutch Lion. On behalf of Queen Beatrix the medal was given to him by Mrs. Yvonne van Rooy, President of the Executive Board of the University of Utrecht.
The Order of the Dutch Lion (De Orde van de Nederlandse Leeuw) dates back to 1815, when it was awarded by King William I for the first time. The order is awarded to Dutch men and women for outstanding achievements in the fields of politics, science, law and the arts.
